TVlogic Monitor User Guide
LightSpace CMS can be used to calibrate TVlogic displays with 3D LUT capability for display profiling and LUT generation.
There are two approaches to TVlogic calibration, depending on the user's requirements. The first uses integrated LightSpace CMS for direct LUT Upload. The second uses LightSpace CMS to generate a 3D LUT, and then uses TVlogic's own display management software for LUT upload.
Both approaches use external patch generation as TVlogic displays do not include in-built patch generation.
At the time of writing only the following TVlogic displays can be 3D LUT calibrated via direct LightSpace CMS integration:.
- XVM-245W-N, XVM-175W, XVM-325W, XVM-177A, LEM-250A, LUM-310A, LUM-240G, and LUM-171G
Note: The XVM-245W (note the missing -N) will not work, as while it does have internal 3D LUT capability it uses a totally different approach to LUT management that is not compatible with LightSpace CMS.
All TVlogic displays with 3D LUT capability, including the XVM-245 model, can be calibrated via a LightSpace CMS generated LUT, with the LUT uploaded via TVlogc's own display control software. See the end of this page for further information.
Any other TVlogic display not listed here should be assumed to have no 3D LUT capability, and we suggest checking with TVlogic directly before any purchase is made if intending to calibrate via LightSpace CMS.
Select TVlogic displays can be calibrated using LightSpace CMS via direct LUT upload, although the actual profiling must be performed via a an external patch generator, such as via direct HDMI/DVI/etc. output from the LightSpace CMS PC, as there is no inbuilt patch generator capability within any TVlogic display. See below for more information on external patch generation.
Note: Please be aware that the way TVlogic provides for display calibration is not presently as intuitive or simple as with other displays, and it is imperative that the following instructions are fully understood before attempting any user calibration - especially the danger of overwriting the factory pre-sets, for which there is no factory provided recovery method, as well as the need to pre-configure the display correctly to prevent unexpected and incorrect results.
- First, configure the TVlogic display correctly for the calibration process to be performed
(From the TVlogic on-screen OSD select Video/Video Range, and then select the require setting - Full, Limited, or LimitedEx as required - and remember this for later)
(It is also imperative you use a 'Custom' colour temp setting via Color/Color Temp, with all values of Bias and Gain set to zero)
- Connect the TVlogic display to the LightSpace PC via a USB connection, as well as a direct video connection (HDMI/DVI/etc.) if that is to be used for patch generation, and start LightSpace CMS
- Navigate to File/Upload, and select the TVlogic option from the 'Select the device type' drop-down window.
- From the 'Select the COM Port' windows required monitor COM port
- If there is no LUT active with LightSpace the NULL Cube option will be ticked and greyed-out, but is operational.
(As no other LUT is available the ONLY option is the NULL Cube)
- Using the available drop-down menu select the Colour Space slot you want to load the 3D LUT into.
(If you select a Colour Space mode other than 'User', you will overwrite the factory pre-set for that mode. You have been warned!)
- To make sure no LUT is already active with the TVlogic display, and to re-set any other internal display calibration settings, select 'Upload', with the NULL Cube box ticked
(Note: to make sure the uploaded Null Cube is active you will need to manually select a different colour space slot using the display's on-screen GUI, and then back to the slot the Null Cube was uploaded to - this is a TVlogic display limitation)
- The Calibration Patches window will remain greyed-out as TVlogic do not provide for in-built calibration
- Close the 'Upload' menu.
The Upload menu is located under 'File/Upload'.
Both before and after uploading the 'Null Cube' use the Initial Display Set-up guide to verify the display's pre-calibration configuration, using the display's own manual controls. Specifically check for correct black and white settings.
When the 'Null Cube' tick box is used, all display settings may be nullified, not just the 3D LUT. Should it be desired that display settings other than the 3D LUT remain as set, upload a real Null/Bypass 3D LUT (generated via File/New), as that will only 'null' the 3D LUT.
Although the option is labeled 'Null Cube', an actual Cube (LUT) is not necessarily loaded into the display, depending on the display's capabilities/options. A 'reset' command may be issued, rather than an actual Cube file uploaded.
Profiling & Calibration
In the following profiling workflow, as TVlogic displays do not have in-built patch generation, the direct HDMI/DVI/DisplayPort connection from the LightSpace laptop/PC will be used for patch generation during profiling, using the display in extended desktop mode.

Profiling can then be performed as normal, using the probe connected to LightSpace, with the extended desktop displaying the patches via the normal LightSpace patch window.
Extended Desktop, with the left hand side being the LightSpace Laptop/PC, and the right hand side the display being profiled.
One key requirement is to match the Patch Generation range with the previously set display video range - Full, Limited, or LimitedEx - using the 'Patch Scale' function within the 'Options' menu.
An alternative is to use a 3rd party patch generator, such as using Resolve, Mistika, BoxIO, or IS-mini etc., again under direct control of LightSpace CMS.
After profiling a Calibration LUT can be generated as normal, and with the LUT held within LightSpace navigate back to the 'Upload' menu, and with the 'NULL Cube' tick box un-ticked, the present LUT displayed within LightSpace can be 'Uploaded'. The location to upload to is selected via the provided drop-down menu, as described above.
To make sure the LUT that has been uploaded is active you will need to manually select a different colour space slot, and then back to the slot the LUT was uploaded to. This is a TVlogic workflow restriction.
Repeat the process for all the required profile slots, enabling quick LUT swapping via the display OSD controls and the different colour space presets.
Note: The LUT Upload process into the TVlogic display is very slow, which is a limitation of TVlogic displays. Additionally, the USB serial connection can become unstable if powered off. You MUST wait 5 minutes with a hard power off (cable out) before turning back on. If you don't, the internal monitor USB system may not come up correctly.
WARNING: The LightSpace CMS GUI will show a warning if you attempt to upload a 3D LUT into a factory pre-set slot. If you click OK, it will be over written, and there is NO factory reset to reinstate the original LUT. You have been warned! It is possible to backup the factory preset TVlogic LUTs via TVlogic's own display management software.
As an alternative, for any TVlogic displays with 3D LUT capability, it is possible to use the 'standard' LightSpace CMS calibration workflow, as defined in the various LightSpace CMS User Guides - specifically including the Idiot's Guide to 3D LUT Calibration - and at the end of the process export the LUT in TVlogic format and load into the display using TVlogic's own display control software.
