Steve, regarding monitors eizo do you mean by the phrase that you used in the past "Also, not all LUT based calibration is equal (if they really have dropped calibration based ICC, which i am unsure of)"
After the integration of lighspace with these monitors you can say something more precise about this topic? how can I do to make sure that the monitor calibration is not derived from the ICC technology?

When calibrated with LightSpace the Eizo is most definitely NOT using ICC based calibration.
It is 3D LUT based, as we have done the integration, so have made sure that is the case.

Yes, because when calibrated with Ezio Color Navigator is icc based?

Yep - ColorNavigator is always ICC based.

Hello Steve, I was re-reading the thread concerning issues of HDLink and are a bit confused about these two statements:

No news yet BMD fro ...

But, I was working at a clients yesterday performing calibration, and spent more time looking at the HDLink Pro
Even in 'bypass mode' - no LUT active - the box distorts the image data being passed through it!
This was in to HDSDI HDSDI out, and the problem was easily visible in the shadows using the 'BrightnessCal' image available as part of the Calibration Images download from the Light Illusion website.

The box really is unusable in its present state! "

Hi Steve, but the problems of distortion of this box only concern the loading of the LUT or the normal passage of a signal from hd-sdi to display port?
To be more clear: the 10-bit signal passes from deckling That hd-sdi output to eizo displayport input via HDLink Consider I can correct or corrupted by the box?

The problem is with active LUTs in the box.
The basic I / O connection conversion seems ok.

Steve "

I'm not sure I understand: HDLink, when a signal passes from input to output (sdi or display port), without lut internally loaded, distorts the image or not?

Thanks

A year and a half later, any news on the functionality of HDlinkPro LUTs?

Nope, no change at all... still unsuitable for accurate LUT work.

Hi everyone,

As Tecnezio asked 3 posts ago, i was wondering, if not using the LUT capability from an HDLink Pro 3D, is 10 bit signal following the path :HD-SDI to HDLink to Displayport (Eizo CG246) corrupted or not ?

I have read many things about this, but did not manage to feel a definitive yes or no about this matter (specifically when NOT using the LUT capability, as i don't need it).

I hope i am not making Steve repete himself for the gazillionth time (although i'm afraid that it's the case...).

Is 8 bit HDMI a better option than a HDLink Pro ?

Thanks a lot everyone,

No problem with the question

It is only when using LUTs we have ever seen problems with the HDlink Pro!
For signal conversion it should be ok.

You guys got me interested :D

If it works out Alexis let me know.

Seems like i'm running in 8 bit mode now.

Not seeing anything bad visually but still.

Hi Steve, any word on this fix from BM. I have to buy two SDI to HDMI convertors and would preferthese if the LUT issue has been fixed.

thanks

The LUT issue has not been fixed.

But if you use the boxes just for SDI to HDMI conversion there is no problem.

Yes, I presently use one for SDI to HDMI now however if the LUT function was accurate I could have another use for the convertor as a lut box to test profiles for monitors without that function.

Thanks
Doug

Hi Doug,

If you need just SDI to HDMI conversion, there are cheaper alternatives, like the Atomos S2H. If you would like LUT function, I would not recommend the HDLink Pro. I have been using them for the past year and a half for on-set color correction but only along side a Filmlight Truelight box, which reveals the inaccuracy of the HDLink Pro. By all reports, the Fujifilm IS-Mini looks like the way to go for reliable alternative.
