The test to see the error is a simple one.

Make a LUT external to the HDlink Pro.
Load the LUT into HDlink Pro (where the effect it has will be different).
Save the LUT back from the HDlink Pro and compare to the original LUT in the LUT generation software - it will be significantly different...

As for an alternative box, at the price point the eeColor is probably the only one.
But for a 'professional' box we use Pluto.

Hi Bernard,

That's difficult as the cost of LUT boxes that work well are presently rather high.
Why not just use an output LUT in the Resolve?
We have a lot of users with that workflow.

You're right about direct lut from dav, it is a fact that i can also take a fist price broadcast monitor.
But you know i also do still frame a lot...so one buy 2 occupations, one step beyong nirvana
ps: and i don't want the hp dreamcolor, is just 4 years old
Best regards

"Integration with the Blackmagic HDlink Pro enables LUTs to be used within any monitor display chain, which is ideal for on-set look monitoring of digital cinematography workflows, as well as LUT based calibration of displays without in-built LUT capability."

The problem is solved?

Nope - but for on-set 'Look' work the error is not critical... and so many users seem happy that calibration with the HDlink Pro is better than without, even with the problems the box has. So I guess that's a situation where it's better than nothing???

I think nothing is better than wrong. For critical work.

Unfortunately, with many displays 'nothing' is very wrong...
They are just not accurate out of the box at all.

But, I would not use an HDlink Pro for critical calibration - ever!

Hi Steve, but the problems of distortion of this box concern only the loading of the LUT or the normal passage of a signal from hd-sdi to display port?
To be more clear: the 10-bit signal that passes from deckling hd-sdi output to eizo displayport input via HDLink I can consider correct or corrupted by the box?

The problem is with active LUTs in the box.
The basic i/o connection conversion seems ok.

Steve, thank you for your quick reply.
Sorry if I wish to use this thread to ask you a question offtopic.
In the past I've read that you did not advice the cg eizo for the color grade (i remember the mike helper post).
In the last relase of your software, however, has been implemented the ability to upload lut of Lightspace in the cg series (probe in built).
After this change your opinion about the eizo changed?
Now you recommend a model cg276 for accurate color grade?
I'm thinking about buying it and using it with resolve and HDLink via Decklink.
And the only way to get a signal with 10-bit eizo this seems to be the use dell'hdlink via displayport.

We do not use or recommend the in-built Eizo probe or Eizo calibration software.
We have added direct LightSpace integration with the Eizo displays so you can accurately calibrate.
This is very different to the previous Eizo calibration, and will provide the best calibration possible.
