What i meant is that the blocks are there but i'm not understanding yet how to make a house out of them

Reason may be that i have no prior experience how to calibrate and how are the regular workflows.

Ah - it's not too difficult...

Set-up the display with the CalImages - checking basic display configuration.
Turn off all internal display colour management as part of this process where possible.
(This is all within the Idiot's User Guide to Calibration on the website)

Profile the display with either a Quick Profile or a Characterisation.

Use Convert Colour Space to make the calibration LUT, with Source as the space you want to be calibrated to, and Destination as the actual profile - and no, that is not the wrong way around!

Export the LUT in the format required...

Yes i gathered this pretty much but missed some steps of course

What i learned projector there is JVC DLA-RS55

For some reasons those are popular around here.

Some other suite has it also.

Will see how it goes tomorrow.

Looks like i got hang of it.

Not sure if i made all adjustments like i should on projector but i see now how simple the workflow is

So here are my results:

I have no experience evaluating them so i post them here.

Sorry for the bad image quality. Snapped them with my phone.

I also did longer calibration run with 10 steps and 1D+3D and got 71% gamut.

Steve,

you mentioned never doing measurements facing PJ. I think that couldn't be said for all home cinema setups.

I know some calibration experts prefer doing direct readings, in case of a low gain screen and less fL (because of lamp aging, or generally not so bright PJ's), or having a PJ with very dark black levels.

Especially the last point is very important to think about faced2PJ or faced2screen, because of the probes raising inaccuracy at low measurements. So I think, if using very powerful SW tools like LS we also have to feed them with most as possible accurate data at all levels.

It's true, measurements with the probe faced to screen is best, no doubts!

At least it's my experience (JVC), that measurements faced2PJ - with consideration of the screen colour shifting behaviour - is no problem. I always take care about the maximum light specification, the probe can work with.

One other aspect: The UHP lamp is very instable, even >1h runtime after power on. So performing fast measurements is also a benefit to get the whole profiling done in the shortest time as possible. And as more light a probe can see, as faster and most accurate it can work.

At the moment I calibrate my PJ with f2PJ, using the given screen offset (x=0.0019 / y=0.0030) of my white gain 1.0 screen. The results are very good.

Of course, with that method I do not involve the room's reflection light, what have to be also a point of thinking about. If a home cinema room is not light controlled, then off screen measurements should be done.

Just my 2ct.

Nope, I have to disagree - the screen is a critical component of the calibration, and MUST be taken into account...

If it is not possible the get a decent brightness off of the screen we would simply reject the set-up as not being fit for purpose.
