Calibrate LG OLED 4K

Hi.

I have an LG C9 and my intention is to calibrate it using 3D LUT with Lightspace to get the best results. My goal is to calibrate DCI-P3 in BT.2020 (which is the great advantage of 4K and not HDR, in my opinion). ConnecTED has told me, Rec. 709 is still used, except with HDR. I thought that with UltraHD content and discs, BT.2020 was already used by default.

I have various doubts:

- What TPG are available to calibrate BT.2020?

- As I have no interest in HDR but in BT.2020, would it make sense to adjust the PQ curve to the maximum brightness of the panel and put the cut at 100%? It would make tone mapping of the HDR over the entire range, which would be an HDR with almost no HDR. Makes sense?

- The recommendation is to calibrate without contact with the screen. What is better, to calibrate with the room in the dark or with the luminosity to watch TV?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure I understand...
There is no non-HDR BT2020 content available.
And all deliverable HDR footage is BT2020 - there is no P3 available.
P3 is just a grading colour space.

All calibration should be in the dark - you do not want any light reflections from the screen.

I explained wrong, again.

I read the colourspace used in films is P3, like BT2020 contains P3, in UltraHD films the content is passed from P3 to Bt2020, that actually it is not used beyond the points of P3 in BT2020, the limit is marked by DCI-P3 in BT2020. Is this correct?

If it is correct, I think is more logical try to calibrate to the space marked by DCI-P3 in BT2020, than the limits of BT2020. If the previous paragraph is true.

The UltraHD players is going to play the films in BT2020-HDR, I don't know is some player plays a UltraHD film without HDR; moreover, Netflix thinks to film all in HDR (that was published in Spain). The TV is OLED, the luminance peak is not near of HDR specefications, I don't think is too logical to try calibrate to HDR (to the luminance), the objective would be calibrate to BT2020 but "ignoring" the HDR, if it is possible.

I hope I explained it better.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean using something like The Sub Space capabilities of LightSpace?

https://www.lightillusion.com/profiling_manual.html#colour_sub-space
or
https://www.lightillusion.com/advanced_lightspace.html#patch_sets

As for calibrating to non-HDR, just use the UHD Rec2020 option in LightSpace at the target colour space.

Yes, I refer those options, thanks.

What can I use like TPG? The patterns must be in BT2020.

There is no such thing as 'patterns' in Rec2020.
Calibration Patches are just RGB triplet values.

Ok.

But can I generate them with a Lumagen mini or laptop? HDMI 1.x throughout the values without problems?

Thanks in advance.

Any TPG can be used for targeting any colour space...
The patches are all the same.
