First time calibration help

Hello all.

Don't know if anyone can help me with this kind of thread.
Just did my first calibration, i'm trying to get the hang of it before investing in lightspace software. My actual aim is to calibrate my LG OLED 2018 TV, however right now i'm "calibrating" an ASUS VS248 monitor.
I know it isn't the best way since i've used X-rite i1Profiler to help getting the values for manual monitor config, and Cal_Images provided by lightilusion, and confirmed it at lightspace DPS with quick profile.
Are my results ok? What should i do to improve?
Thanks.

You really need to post the 'before' profile to compare.
But, attempting to use iProfiler for manual calibration is not going to do much in the way of actual calibration.

for example, as you can see, blue gamut is not good.

Sorry for not posting the pre.
Removed the ICC profile created and reset monitor to default.

Pre-calibration

Thanks to looking into it.

I have edited your image links - you MUST link to the actual image (link ending in .jpg/.png/etc), not to the page with the image in it.

The pre-cal shows clipping in the highlights, as well as poor gamma.
Compared to that, the VCGT 1D calibration iProfiler has done is basic, as expected.
Not a lot more can really be said...
You need to be performing 3D LUT calibration to see real improvements.

Thanks Steve. Sorry for posting It the wrong way. So i would need a lut box to actually calibrate It and at least lightspace htl? I don't think i can upload lut directly to this monitor.

Using iProfiler for ICC based calibration is never going to be that good.
See: https://www.lightillusion.com/icc_profiles.html

For professional calibration you need to use 3D LUTs - and if the display has no LUT capability, that means using an external LUT.
Hardware based, or software.

Hi, you have large clipping at these luminance levels, use a pattern for contrast and adjust to not have any clipping levels before reference white (255).

Also by reducing peak output levels (the backlight) it will help on having less clipping and better gamma tracking, but with VCGT (it can do only RGB Balance and Gamma calibration), for color gamut errors you will need ICC, but ICC they will work only if you will use an application which are capable to read them, like PhotoShop for example.

If you want to watch at least your movies with correct colors, you can use a software player which support madVR as renderer, so later create a display profiling using LightSpace and export 3D LUT correction table which madVR will load when you will playback a movie from inside that software player (like MediaPlayerClassic for example or others available).

External LUT Box with HDMI Input-Output which can work for PC-Levels is not available, all LUT Boxes (like eeColor/Lumagen) are working for Video Levels (RGB-Video/YCbCr output of your source you have to use) 3D LUT tables.

My actual aim is to calibrate my LG OLED 2018 TV

Using LG Template with Device Control, you can send 33-Point Cube 1D and 3D LUT files generated from LightSpace HTL internally to your LG:
