New LightSpace 6.5.0 version released

A new version of LightSpace has just been released - v6.5.0
This includes:

-- High resolution 21^3 profiling added
-- User patch set generation capability added, including non-grid based patches
-- Added Parametric Gamma Controls for user colour spaces
-- Added Grey Scale only Profiling
-- Changed Probe Match (old probe match data is no longer valid)
-- Fix BT1886 gamma graph display
-- Change VideoScale filter operation
-- New LUT formats added

The new high-resolution profiling capabilities, including in-built 21^3 profiling, and the unrestricted user generated patch capability provides a level of calibration accuracy beyond any alternative calibration system.

This is a very powerful addition to LightSpace, and is unmatched within the calibration industry.

Please note that if you are using the in-built 'Probe Matching' function, all previous probe matching data files will need to be deleted and replaced with new files.

Thanks. Is it possible to have more information about :

User patch set generation capability added, including non-grid based patches [ is there an user guide ? ]
Changed Probe Match (old probe match data is no longer valid) [ I guess it is applicable also when we do the probe matching manually, doesn't it ]

I'm working on updating the user manuals - but have asked some of the beta testers to join the discussion as they know the operation.

I also forgot to mention the new 'Parametric Gamma Controls' that can be added to any user generated colour space.

This is an example of a 10 point Parametric Gamma colour space based on Rec709:

You can see the addition of 10 gamma points that have been added.
You can have up to 101 individual gamma points.

Hello Alexandre,

and regarding new probe matching behaviour, this is the difference to the previous LS version:
The RGB triplets of previous profiling patches was '255' (100% lightness). Now LS use '240' for each patch to avoid running into display clipping.

Hello

@Harry : thanks. It means that with this version the manually probe matching has to be done with RGBW patches at 75%, am I right ?

@Steve : thanks for sharing this config file.

Let see the point 1 :

My guess is that normally the value to consider for point 1 is 0.2 (20%) instead the usual 0.1 (10%). Does that mean that gamma point for WHITE 10% is discarded ? If yes, is it discarded for the measure only or for the measure and the 3DLUT generation ?

Nope - the 'gamma points' are simply input gamma to output gamma.

So for point 1, ig-0.1000 is the input value, and og-0.2000 is the new output value.
If og were 0.1000 there would be no change to the gamma at that point.
(No change means the gamma would be left at the target default - 2.2 for example.

Make sense?
