The disadvantage of the film lut?

With the film lut to the digital camera of the log data, such as Alexa and epic, there is a phenomenon in which the green of a certain range is yellow. Will you be able to make a film lut that such a thing does not occur? For example, such as the bright green it will become a yellow color, such as hay and shed lut. Always, it will suffer from this thing have a grading. The solution is whether there will be for?

Any LUT can be made to act in any way desired.

But, it all depends on the actual LUT you are using.
True Film Emulation LUTs have to be made form real film data, using a very accurate film profiling system - as we use when generating such LUTs for our customers.


You can't just pick a 'Film LUT' at random and expect it to work, without know how it was generated.

Might be a bit off topic:
Steve, are there any publicly or commercially available film profiles. With LightSpace, there are "Vision", "Fuji" and "Premier", but there is so many more film emulsions, film processes,... that could be measured and saved as colour profiles.

We have a huge library of film profiles, but all profiles have been generated for customers for specific paid jobs.
As a result we will not provide such data to any 3rd parties.
