Salut!

I'm searching for a solution to calibrate a JVC Broadcast Video Monitor DT-V17G1, which will be used for colour grading. I've found an application from JVC: www3(dot)jvckenwood(dot)com/english/download/gd-42x1/pdf/JVCMonitorCalibration2UsersG uide.pdf
but it's definitely not a comprehensive calibration tool.
1. Do I need an external LUT processor like HDLink pro and software to build the LUT?
2. Is it standard for all BVM's that they don't have built-in hardware calibration?

Best,
Copperfield.

Hi,
As you say the calibration that pdf describes is very basic, and seems to represent grey scale only, not full display gamut and gamma calibration.

For accurate calibration, with that display, you would need an external LUT box and CMS software - assuming the display can be accurately calibrated. Without profiling the display it's impossible to say. If the basic display doesn't exceed the target Gamma and Gamut it will never accurately calibrate. It may - it may not... Never profiled one of those.

But, few displays have good inbuilt calibration capabilities. We are working with some manufactures to change this - such as Penta, who we are working working to provide full 3D LUT based calibration for their displays.

Any help?
