With the latest release of LightSpace CMS we have added a new function that allows the generation of 3D Calibration LUTs from Quick Profiles.

Such LUT Generation will only work with displays that have good RGB Separation - for displays without good RGB separation a full characterisation profile will be required.

More info on this has been added to the Display Characterisation page, as well as the Profiling Manual page, but feel free to ask any questions here.

A new version of LightSpace CMS has just been released. V 5.8.2

This includes ACES CTL based colour space tools, and new LUT formats for the eeColor box.

Steve:
A new version of LightSpace CMS has just been released. V 5.8.2

I was going to ask on email, thought it might be of interest to others...

the new LightSpace Lite, the cost effective option with the i1D, where do the limitations sit?

My assumptions and they may well be incorrect...
- i1D is a delicate instrument, so not suited to rentals or freelance callibration service, but for a small shop's private use a decent option?
- Does the probe it's self create limitations?
- Software limitations?
- Limitations on displays that can be profiled?

Seems like a perfect fit for me (small shop / private use)...

On my list of things i think i might be investing in over the next two years, consumer OLED when they show up & if worthy.... i know it's early days, but is there a known limitation on OLED's?

ThanX

Hi Dermot, thanks for posting the question - appreciated!

The i1D3 is actually not a bad probe.
It is fairly robust, but I wouldn't suggest abusing it - or any other probe for that matter.
It's the cost that makes it less suited to rental use - you may as well just purchase it...
The limitation with the probe are just based on its relative accuracy - more than good enough for most applications, but not as good as a Hubble, or even better, a Jeti or K-10

Software limitations are as per the differences between the Full LightSpace, and the Light version.

You can always upgrade LightSpace as and when needed.

Based on our feedback of the i1D3 X-Rite will be updating the probe options shortly, and LightSpace (all versions) will gain from this update.

So all in all, a good option for your application

We have a number of users already, and all seem very happy when compared with the other alternatives at that rough price point.

LightSpace Quick Profile (Lite) still uses the same advanced colour science used in the full system, not the 'guesstimation' approach of the slightly cheaper, consumer based, alternatives.

Hope this helps.

Since release of LightSpace Quick Profiling (LightSpace Lite...) there has been a lot if interest, and a lot of new customers have adopted it.

When combined with the i1 Display Pro it is a very cost-effective calibration package.

We have continued to add new features and capabilities, and with the next release have a Close Loop Mode that greatly increases the speed of profiling when able to directly connect the LightSpace PC to the display (non-DIP mode).

There is more info in the main website pages, and feel free to ask questions here.
