The i1D3 is actually not a bad probe.
It is fairly robust, but I wouldn't suggest abusing it - or any other probe for that matter.
It's the cost that makes it less suited to rental use - you may as well just purchase it...
The limitation with the probe are just based on its relative accuracy - more than good enough for most applications, but not as good as a Hubble, or even better, a Jeti or K-10
Software limitations are as per the differences between the Full LightSpace, and the Light version.
You can always upgrade LightSpace as and when needed.
Based on our feedback of the i1D3 X-Rite will be updating the probe options shortly, and LightSpace (all versions) will gain from this update.
So all in all, a good option for your application

We have a number of users already, and all seem very happy when compared with the other alternatives at that rough price point.
LightSpace Quick Profile (Lite) still uses the same advanced colour science used in the full system, not the 'guesstimation' approach of the slightly cheaper, consumer based, alternatives.
