Hello folks,

as I like to connect Apple TV devices to my TVs, I am wondering, if they are bit-perfect so that they can be used with the LightConnect App as pattern generator.

Previous versions were not bit-perfect as far as I know.

Thanks for your support.

Hi,

I haven't tested the 2021 version, but with the previous version I found the key was to use RGB out (low or high as appropriate).

I can't tell you if it was bit perfect, but it seemed to match what I was getting result wise compared with a laptop and using the ColourSpace built in pattern generator.

Thanks for replying. I am confused which setting to use for Apple TV at all with main purpose of Movie Streaming...RGB/YCC4:2:0/YCC4:4:4.

As far as I understand: When using YCbCr then 4:4:4 is the better one, but HDMI needs to handle it.

RGB I always linked with a PC Graphic adapter. Wrong assumption?

ATV is not bit-perfect and it will never be bit-perfect for patch generation of a TV/projector.

You can use it for playback only.

The apple processing after the APP is adding the error.

Any APP has no control over that.

If you are just measuring your iPhone or iPad screen it's a bit perfect there.

PGenerator is the only bit-perfect device with RGB output in the consumer market to use at TPG.
