We've just found a bug with Extended Patch Sets and Active LUT.
We'll fix this as soon as possible.

Since I am planning to use the Augment functionality to get better greyscale (if possible, just testing it, to be honest) and having had problems after using the Active LUT functionality to measure the large greyscale set, I am wondering about the nature of this bug and if it would influence that workflow. I use an LG C1 but I doubt that makes a difference. Thank you.

This bug affects only the operation required for Focused Patchset for LG OLEDs.

It's not related to the AUG process.

You have to load the 3D LUT to the TV for the AUG to work.

It's not OK to use Active LUT for LG to generate AUG with new LUT because Active LUT doesn't see the LG processing effects.

You are using the LUT inside the TV to include processing issues in the second LUT you will generate.

If you use it as Active LUT instead of sending it to the TV, you don't see processing issues.

LOL! Right when I was trying to wrap my head around that. Thanks for clarifying, at least I haven't wasted my time to only later find out there was a bug.

Right, you told me so, I remember. I think this would be good to add to the guide here, which suggests Active LUT can be used (maybe stating that it depends on display type, I don't know). To save 5 minutes I ended up wasting 3 hours

The info about how to perform AUG with LG specify that you have to upload the LUT to the TV:

As an update - we are working on enhancing the Limited Range approach to HDR calibration, and Extended Range profiling falls into this development.

As such, the bug with Extended Range will be fixed when this new Limited Range development is released.

So has this now been solved, since I've seen the new Extended range stuff, from Ted on AVS, has been implemented? Or were you referring to something else?

The bug with Extended Patch Sets and Active LUT should be fixed.
If not, let us know.
The planned changes to Limited Range are on-going.
