Light Illusion is very happy to announce the launch of its new consultancy operation, Light Illusion India, providing technical, logistical and creative assistance for digital film operations throughout the Indian film industry, as well as direct support for SGO's Mistika DI system. The consultancy's co-founder and partner, Sundeep Reddy, has already been working alongside Steve Shaw over the last 12 months.

With years of experience in the film and digital industries Sundeep Reddy spearheads Light Illusion India, and is Light Illusion's world-renowned technical and creative digital film support to existing and up-coming Indian film post and production operations. The focus is on building high-end DI facilities with state-of-the-art technology and workflows, combined with the best creative capabilities. The consultancy operation includes a focus on the growing 3D stereoscopic market, where Light Illusion already has considerable experience.

Light Illusion's Steve Shaw has for a long time espoused the benefits of using DI systems that provide more than just Colour Correction tools, preferring systems with a wide range of capabilities aimed at enabling a centralised, rather than distributed, approach to DI workflows.

Recent advances in off-the-shelf PC systems, GPU processing, and storage hardware, combined with some unique software developments and ground breaking creative tools, has enabled European based manufacturer SGO to bring its Mistika DI post-production system to the forefront of the DI market, and Light Illusion is proud to have been asked to provide consulting services to SGO to assist in managing the world-wide interest that Mistika is gaining.

These new curves attempt to maximise the Canon EOS (1D MKIV/5D MKII/7D specifically) camera's capture capabilities, enabling the most to be made of the images in later post-production, and are based on the very successful Sony Gamma Curves, also from Light Illusion.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR COLOUR...

The second stage of Hubble integration with the 3D LUT Builder is now nearing completion, with development on-going for the ability to use Hubble with the LUT Builder to profile multiple display devices and use the profiles to automatically build LUTs. This new feature, yet to be fully functional, is available FOC as a beta test for early adopter customers - who remain FOC customers for this option when fully operational.
