Mac OS - null display profile

Is there such a profile (that comes with Mac OS or otherwise) that has no effect on the colour output of the system? I'm quite new to display calibration but am aware I should calibrate a display first with its internal settings before proceeding to profiling. Surely I should complete this stage with an inactive CMS but I believe the Mac OS CMS cannot be switched off? I've read that a work around would be use a nulled display profile, is this correct?

I don't know of such a profile as a 'default', but we have generated them for Light Illusion customers in the past.
You can also generate one via SpaceMan ICC.

With Mac OS it does seem to be the only way to 'turn off' its internal CMS...

I've never felt confident enough to trust colour off a Mac display!
