One of the major services provided by Steve and Light Illusion is the design and set-up of Digital Intermediate grading rooms.
The following show an example of the DI rooms Light Illusion has been involved in help setting up:

The above image shows a temporary DI room set-up at a Chennai based DI facility in India. What it does show is the 'normal' operational workflow layout for a good DI room with projection based grading.
The Log image output from the DI system (a PabloNeo in this case) is first passed through the waveform monitoring system (OmniTek XR), set to display my favourite selection of grading displays - histogram, vectorscope, and waveform. The image then passed to the monitor (Cine-tal Cinemagé), where a calibrated Log to Print LUT is applied. This calibrated image is then passed to the digital projector (a ProjectionDesign Cineo-32).
The following image shows Steve grading 'Credo' on a Quantel Pablo, with a very similar set-up to the above DI room (the waveform monitor is hidden to the left of the operational GUI monitor).

This DI room was also designed for 3D Stereoscopic work, using two Cineo-32 projectors with linear polarized filters, and associated glasses.
The following is a reverse angle view, with a single projector in place.

The following diagram shows the initial design for the above DI operation, which was a small, but perfectly formed, post-production operation specialising in DI and stereoscopic 3D.

And the following is the final layout, with a slightly smaller DI room.

This image is FotoKem, LA, not long after the DI room was built and during the grading for America Heart & Soul, with at that Time Light Illusion co-conspirator Walter Volpatto at the controls.

And this final image shows the DI room at e-motion, Genoa, Italy, that has been built by David Bush - someone linked very closely with Light Illusion and Steve - and is based very much on the designs seen above, and built for 3D Stereoscopic DI (hence the glasses).

And no, the lights are not usually on during DI work!
